On MMW's someone asked if perfectly polished stories and retellings of our lives and experiences are really what we want our blogs/journals to be (referring to when stories on blogs are totally rose colored compared to what they told you in person). It was an interesting question because you know, we've all read blogs that are so perfect you have to fight the gag reflex. But I think that is different than those who are choosing only to write about the good, which is also a reasonable option. But unfortunately for you, it isn't an option for me. I strive to be like my personal fave blogs (see the long list to the right) I always check first, they are the ones where I know I will find reality for better or for worse. No sugar coating.
Lest anyone should get the wrong idea about my blog I shall share:
*Yesterday I burned the left side above my lip cuz I kept the Mustachio Remover on too long whilst breaking up an ultimate fighting brawl between my kids. (course that was after Kohen found me with the cream on my face and asked me if I was shaving like Dad. Yay! free self-esteem boost!)
*Briefly tried potty training Aly today- she would hold it while on the potty then go elsewhere and relieve herself. You would think I would have been a little more suspicious when she wanted to snuggle on my lap...I guess she didn't want to take a bath alone???
*During Quiet Time Kohen had smuggled some Elmer's Glue into his room and smeared glue all over the back of his door and stuck one of Kennedy's paper dolls to it. After overseeing him scrub his door clean I turn to find where the other 3/4 bottle of glue went...I didn't like the carpet here anyway.
*While making dinner the kids were out back riding their respective bikes. There must have been some sort of fantastic collision because all three trailed in whimpering, bruised and bleeding. Had that UnSupermom moment where I fumed their Dad wasn't home to help juggle...
*Went to church here for the first time to find a ward so little our 3 kiddies added 18% to their primary in one day. And at least 70% of the ward is very elderly. This was underlined when they noted the two funerals they had that week had gone well. Bloom where you're planted, bloom where you're planted...who am I kidding, I always kill plants.
*No matter how you cut it, it is lonely in a new place without friends.

I have lived in Boise for 11 months, I could be up for a move!... are there any available men, under the age of 30 preferably... Maybe that 60 year old single Grandpa has a cute grandson :)Love ya!
Erin, you make me laugh. I'm glad when you write about your day in review you can do it with some humor. What a fun little bunch of kids you have! As always, your kids' new pictures in yellow look absolutely adorable!
Mine might not be completely telling of my boring and/or difficult days, but I don't paint just the rosy picture either.
I love your day's happenings. :) They're much like my own.
Hang in there! You're not alone. How about your six-year-old not telling you he has brought a friend into the house when you decide to streak from your bedroom to the laundry room for some clean pants...at least I had the G's on!
Erin, I was reading these funnies to my mom over the phone and she couldn't even understand me I was laughing so hard.... it seems so much funnier when somebody else's kids are busy:), though I'm always glad I wrote about it later when I can laugh too.
Erin I so miss you! Your blog makes me laugh like none other!
I totally know those blogs that are one big Christmas card! I sure hope mine is down to earth.....
I am sure knowing you that you will find friends very quickly!
Erin - You always make friends wherever you go AND you keep them even when you move. I know you'll find some new friends, but in the meantime keep up your good sense of humor! Any parents in Kenna's class seem like good people?
Miss you! Rachel
Your realism is something that makes me laugh again and again! Oh, and I can relate with the wet panties trauma...Erica can't seem to relax ON the potty. I guess they all figure it out eventually, right??
That ward must feel like such an adjustment from our exploading one out here! If it makes you feel better, we're probably going to have to stay at the 2:30 time next year because they can't accomodate us any other time since we're so big. You'll make friends soon!!
Oh yeah, speaking of "sugar-coated" blogs, have you heard of the blog that mocks those types of blogs called http://seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com/? It's pretty hilarious.
don't worry erin I will come visit you again asap!! :)
I love reading your funny life- see I only ever type the gag reflex stuff on my blog, because my children are perfect, my house is perfect, my life is perfect (did I mention we are all boring robots). seriously, i am happy that people actually write- I hardly label the pictures.
